7 Creative Learning Activities for Preschoolers

According to unicef.org, children learn by playing and trying things out, and by observing and copying what others do. Therefore, kids in their early childhood must learn and explore new things. In the process of learning, it is recommended that parents provide them with an environment of self-learning for self-growth. These creative learning activities for preschoolers will help in encouraging the cognitive development of a child even at home.









  1. Camping and swinging:

What we can do is take small kids on a camping trip. Wondering how does that provide learning?..camping gives an outward and unique experience that builds a preschooler’s overall abilities. The basic things required for the trip are a tent, some food, and fruits, something to drink, a pair of clothes and some toys. If there is a swing around, then kids can indulge themselves in swinging. 2. Easy learning by making paper boards

This activity involves using a brush to take paint and then applying it to the ice cube. This changes the ice cube and then the ice cube acts as a combination of color and water to paint. You can draw simple and interesting figures along with your kid on paper. You can also show them how the shades mix and form a new color. 4 Sticker sorting:


What you can do is to buy a sticker page of flowers, letters or animals. Then ask the child to paste the sticker upon the picture of that respective letter. This is a fun and time-consuming activity to keep the child busy in the right way. This also develops a sense of knowing the difference between letters and shapes. 6 Homemade Dough:


For this recipe, we can make use of common household items like baby oil or cooking oils. For the ultimate in cheap and entertaining play opportunities, the sensory dough will have your toddler safely entertained while they pull and squish joyfully through this non-toxic and all-natural dough.

This is one of those activities which creates a boundless space for child imagination as they can make anything.

You can also bring in shapes through which a child can make a circle, square shape out of the dough.

The materials required for this activity are;

Baby oil – 4-5 tablespoons, A plastic box, A thick material dough mat, Food coloring, and 2 cups flour also.






7. Role-Playing activities:


You can always invest some time with your child in the form of role-playing activities. Pre-schoolers slowly and steadily grasp shapes and countings but imagination has no time and age. It should be fostered in the form of these activities from the start. Roleplay can be done by the parent being a particular character and the toddler being the other. You can play scenes like flower shop scenes, bakery scenes, pizza shop scenes, and many more. One person can act as a buyer and the other as a seller. For example, I still remember how I used to act as a shop person who had a big chocolate shop made by my younger brother, a customer who visits the shop.


This opens the scope of development by making creative learning activities for preschoolers a daily routine. This also strengthens the parent-child relationship as it inculcates trust and understanding.
